I have no formal training, yet I love the creative process and am passionate about my work. I love creating fun, whimsical, colorful and entertaining pieces of art, whether it’s through an Acrylic Painting, Wire Art, Mixed Media, a Molly Dolly or jewelry.
I started drawing years ago when I owned an antique shop in Warsaw, Missouri. I decorated the store’s bags with whimsical drawings of my pet rooster, Romeo. My late father, himself a talented artist, encouraged me to expand my creativity and add to my repetoire with new and exciting artwork. I began painting abstract cubism, light-hearted still life and folk art. I was already making wire art mobiles and sun catchers from vintage hardware I had collected over the years.
Every piece is a one-of-a-kind and that’s the same for my Molly Dollys. I create each Molly Dolly from vintage fabrics and buttons I’ve collected — every one is unique and seems to have his or her own personality.
My greatest passion, however, is teaching others how to paint. I completely love spending time with those who have always wanted to paint, but never thought they could do it. I’m a perfect example of someone who can do it without a formal education.
I teach classes to all ages, from school age children K-16 (Budding Artist Club), to adults. Classes are always full of laughter and abundant with each person’s creative juices flowing. When the class is done, even though everyone has painted the same painting, each one reflects its artist’s own personality and design. Check out our Photo Albums for yourself!
I also offer Private Parties. An art party is loads of fun for bridal showers, birthday parties, baby showers, family get togethers — even for work seminars. I have had a number of art parties for various businesses who use that time as a fun, creative way for employees to take a break during a work seminar, opening their minds to their imagination and encourage inspiration.
In 2011, I decided to return to my roots in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and open my own store. I am now branching out with an online store where my Acrylic Paintings, Wire Flowers, Mixed Media, Molly Dollys and Hand-Hammered Copper Wire Bookmarks can be purchased. Customers interested in attending an Adult Art Class may sign up through my website. Youngsters interested in the Budding Artist Club (for kids K-16 and local to Excelsior Springs), may sign up through Excelsior Springs Parks & Recreation.
Customers may also visit my site on Fine Art America and purchase Canvas Prints, Framed Prints, Art Prints, Acrylic Prints, Metal Prints, Greeting Cards and iPhone Cases from any of my art galleries there.
I hope my art will make you smile.
